Twinfix was formed in 1990 and, in an earlier life as Thermoclear UK Ltd, was the first company in Europe to develop a range of glazing bars and fixing accessories specifically designed for installing multiwall polycarbonate sheet glazing. We have continued to grow this range, most of which is manufactured from aluminium, and these are now available directly from us here in Cheshire or through a network of UK distributors.
In the mid 1990's we introduced a range of patented modular rooflight systems incorporating multiwall polycarbonate sheet integrated into aluminium framed glazing bars. These systems are sold directly into the new-build markets of factory roof glazing, and canopies in the domestic, education and industrial markets. The system is also widely used in the refurbishment of northlights where Georgian wired glass has failed and needs replacing. We then modified one of our panel rooflight systems, the Multi-Link-Panel, to conform to the Health & Safety Executive's recommended drop test for non-fragile roofing assemblies. The resultant Multi-Link-Panel NF (non-fragile) has subsequently been installed into many roofing situations, particularly rail station canopies and depot rooflights.
We design, manufacture and install aluminium-framed shelters, canopies and walkways glazed with polycarbonate roofing. These have been used extensively in schools as playground shelters or to cover pathways between buildings. In recent years these have also been used commercially as smoking shelters. Our installation service for these glazed structures covers most parts of the country, in other areas we can usually recommend a local installer.
In 1999 we introduced a range of fixing systems for rain-screen cladding materials, such as TRESPA sheet.
The last few years have seen polycarbonate roof domes and barrel vaults for flat roof applications included in the Twinfix range.
We also offer a 40mm thick multiwall polycarbonate panel that simply clicks together to produce vertical glazing that has no intermediate glazing bars. It sits within an aluminium thermally broken frame and is ideal for factory, sports hall and plant room glazing.
Today, Twinfix is a large-scale stockist of multiwall polycarbonate sheet, with a service that includes providing ready to fit, cut to size, blown and taped panels. In addition, we also stock solid polycarbonate sheet - ideal for anti-vandal and security glazing purposes.
We are able to attract business from the domestic, industrial, mass transit and education markets. Whilst most of our work is carried out in front of the architect and supplier, we also offer supply and advice to tradesmen and to DIY enthusiasts.
