Non-fragile Rooflights for Schools and Colleges

Multi-Link-Panels NF are the ideal rooflight system for schools & colleges

Studies show that rooflights that allow natural light into study areas significantly increase productivity. As schools acknowledge this benefit, the inevitable increase in the demand for rooflights has led to a need for improved safety standards in roof glazing for educational establishments. Many existing rooflights simply fail to meet the required criteria. The Twinfix Multi-Link-Panel NF (non-fragile) modular roof glazing system makes roof safety a priority, whilst transmitting excellent levels of natural light into buildings.

The Health and Safety publication HSG33 'Health and Safety in Roof Work' highlights that falls though fragile roof glazing, often found in older rooflights in educational buildings, are a common cause of fatalities in the construction industry. This also applies to intruders who gain roof access. The report recommends that only non-fragile components are specified for roof glazing. The Multi-Link-Panel NF system conforms to the ACR[M]001:2000 - Test for Fragility of Roofing Assemblies, as required in the HSE (Health & Safety Executive) Document HSG33.

Each Multi-Link-Panel NF combines a maintenance-free aluminium frame with virtually unbreakable multiwall polycarbonate glazing and outperforms other roof glazing products in terms of performance, cost and long-term appearance.

A variety of polycarbonate thicknesses and tints, including Opal White, Solar Control and Bronze, is available to allow a more effective control of light and heat transmission.

A major benefit of this made-to-measure system is its 'fix and link' design feature, which cuts installation time by two thirds compared to traditional glazing systems. This reduces installation costs and minimises disruption. Roof glazing can be refurbished during a short vacation period because installation is so quick and simple.
