Twinfix supplies a range of profiles, all of which complement our glazing bar systems. These finish off the sides and ends of a conservatory or any lean-to roof.
'F' profiles can be used in internal applications to support the sides of multiwall glazing sheet, or to help in the manufacture of selected outdoor items, such as cold frames. For domestic external applications, such as sun room and conservatory roofs, we recommend the use of our side trim to finish the ends of a run of glazing - see below.
Our side trims provide a neat finish at the edge of any roof structure and weather the edge of the roof slope. Side trims are used with both our rafter gasket and structural glazing bar systems. Again, just fix to barge boards or to a side wall for a neat finish.
'U' profiles cover and protect the blanking tape and filter tape at the ridge and eaves end of the multiwall polycarbonate glazing. They also give a neat and rigid finish to the cut sheet edge. The 'U' profiles are fitted after the sheet has been cut to size, blown free of dust and taped up. 'U' profiles are available in mill finish, white and brown aluminium.
Twinfix eaves fillers work in conjunction with various glazing bar systems. They fill the gaps between the underside of the sheet and the top of the support structure at the eaves end.
Nylon fixing buttons are used to spot fix to rafters and purlins, etc. on roofs with a slope of 10° and over.
If you order cut to size multiwall polycarbonate glazing sheet from us, after cutting it we will blow out any dust/swarf from the flutes then apply filter tape (grey) at the eaves (lower) end of the multiwall polycarbonate and blanking tape (aluminium foil) at the ridge end (upper) prior to delivery. However, if you want to cut the glazing sheet to size on site then you should fit filter tape after cutting your sheet. As well as helping to prevent the ingress of dust and insects this tape will allow any condensation to drain. Once in place, you should then cover the tape at the gutter end of your sheet with an aluminium 'U' profile. Butyl flashing ensures a weatherproof seal at the ridge or against a wall.
It is essential to use stainless steel screws or bolts with all of our glazing systems. If you use ordinary mild steel screws in aluminium glazing bars, the metallic reaction between the two metals causes rusting, which can lead to failure of the glazing system. The use of stainless steel screws prevents this. You can purchase these from Twinfix, together with white, brown or grey plastic screw cover caps.
These should always be fitted when Twinfix glazing bars are used to install glass. (They can also be used with multiwall polycarbonate.)
