Leigh Infirmary

Client:   Leigh Infirmary
Twinfix System Used:   Multi-Link-Panels

As part of an overall investment and refurbishment at Leigh Infirmary in Greater Manchester, Twinfix supplied and fitted a Multi-Link canopy to cover a walkway between two entrances with no internal access.

At over 77m long, the Multi-Link canopy comprises two wall-supported runs of approximately 33m that are linked by a self-supporting run of 11.5m. Twinfix designed a special ladder section on the self-supporting section to accommodate the fact that the two 33m runs required wall plates at different heights. The canopy system is also flexible enough to cope with varying floor heights.

The canopy is glazed with 16mm triplewall polycarbonate roof glazing. This strong and safe glazing material will not shatter or crack so is ideal in a hospital environment. It also offers excellent levels of light transmission and requires little maintenance.

As with all Multi-Link canopies, the entire manufacturing process took place in the Twinfix factory. There was therefore no need to cut anything on site so installation was very quick and safe, despite the need to accommodate existing gutters, drainpipes and an access ramp for the disabled.

This canopy was chosen to complement an existing glazed canopy and the adjacent brown window frames. However, Twinfix do offer a variety of other frame colours and roof glazing tints to suit most environments.
