The exterior market stalls were refurbished to match the newly built inside market at Chalon Way, St Helens. The latest materials were used to maintain the style of a traditional marketplace. Each mono-pitched stall was modified to form a dual pitched structure and glazed with Easiglaze roof glazing panels, from Twinfix.

For this application, the Easiglaze panels were glazed with 10mm green tinted Marlon ST Longlife twinwall polycarbonate. The aluminium frames were powder-coated in a rust-resistant gunmetal grey gloss finish. Twinfix also supplied tapered infill sections and flashings for the gable ends of each stall.

Marlon ST Longlife structured polycarbonate sheet provides an excellent level of light transmission with the reassurance of a ten year warranty. Leslie Jones Architects chose this attractive glazing material to complement the glazing in the adjacent indoor market building.

The 256 panels are glazed at 665mm centres to maintain the look of a traditional glazed roof. Easiglaze panels have a very low profile, and are designed for use with a rafter sub assembly on pitched roofs. Because each panel has a built-in water management system, there is no need to assemble gaskets or use sealant on site. DW Tilley Ltd were therefore able to install the panels quickly and easily.
