Tapes & Flashings

Twinfix supply a range of tapes and flashings for use with multiwall polycarbonate. Because these products are used in such close proximity with this glazing it is important to know that they have been tested for compatibility with polycarbonate. All of ours have been tested and are compatible.

Protective Tapes

When multiwall polycarbonate is cut to size dust and swarf will become lodged in the open flutes. As standard practice when supplying cut panels of multiwall we blow the flutes out and apply suitable tapes to both cut ends of each sheet. The panels are then ready for fitting.

When fitting your multiwall panels please do be careful to ensure that the Blanking tape is at the ridge (higer end) of the sheet and the Breather tape is at the eaves (lower end) of your panel.

We recommend that during installation you fit U profiles (sometimes called end closures) over the tape as this helps to weather protect the tape and also gives extra rigidity to the sheet across its width.

Anti-Dust Breather Tape

ADT16R (to suit 16mm multiwall polycarbonate)
ADT25R (to suit 25mm multiwall polycarbonate)
Size:ADT10R - 28mm wide x 33m long
ADT16R - 42mm wide x 33m long
ADT25R - 50mm wide x 33m long
Anti-Dust Breather Tape

This is a breathable self-adhesive tape supplied in rolls to suit the appropriate thickness of multiwall polycarbonate and is fitted over the flutes at the lower (eaves) end of the sheet where it helps to keep dust and insects out of the flutes. It is identified by the white and grey strip that runs down the middle of the tape.

In certain weather conditions condensation may appear within the lower flutes of the sheet when installed on a roof; use of this tape enables any condensation to evaporate.

Blanking Tape

A metallised polypropylene supplied in rolls to suit the appropriate thickness of multiwall polycarbonate and is fitted over the flutes at the upper (ridge) end of the sheet.

Blanking Tape

This metallised polypropylene tape is supplied in rolls to suit the appropriate thickness of multiwall polycarbonate and is fitted over the flutes at the upper (ridge) end of the sheet. The blanking tape has an all-over shiny grey finish.

Use of this tape prevents the future ingress of dust, dirt and rainwater.

200/20 Butyl Flashing

Reference:200/20
Colour:White or Lead Look
Size:200mm wide x 20m long x 1.5mm thick
Butyl Flashing

Butyl flashing is typically used for weathering a glazed roof at the ridge and/or sides. This white or grey foil face flashing comprises a synthetic rubber based strip sealant, with a removable backing film.

During installation you should remove the backing film to reveal the adhesive. The flashing, which is very flexible and formable, can then be bonded down over the glazing bars and onto the polycarbonate or glass to achieve a fully sealed, weathered detail. It is advisable to gently wipe over the glazing with a clean dry cloth and remove any loose dust from the wall prior to presenting the flashing. The foil face has good tear and puncture resistance.

Please note that the butyl will not seal well during wet weather conditions.

In some applications, you may choose to use the butyl as the primary seal and then cover it with a metal flashing.
