Colne Primet Academy sought to expand its dining capacity and improve the student experience by creating a dedicated outdoor dining space. Twinfix was appointed to design, manufacture, and install a free-standing duo-pitch canopy that would provide year-round weather protection while complementing the school’s surroundings.
Twinfix supplied and installed a robust duo-pitch canopy featuring the Alu-Link-Panel solid aluminium roof system. Designed to deliver long-term performance with minimal upkeep, the canopy offers excellent shelter from rain and UV exposure, ensuring the new dining area can be used comfortably throughout the academic year.
The free-standing structure, installed in May 2023, spans 9 metres in length with a 6.1-metre projection, creating a generous footprint for outdoor dining. The Alu-Link-Panel roof was selected for its outstanding durability, safety, and aesthetic appeal. Engineered to withstand heavy use in educational settings, the solid aluminium panels resist corrosion and damage, ensuring reliability and longevity.
Beyond addressing practical needs, the project aimed to ease pressure on the indoor dining hall while creating an inviting social environment for pupils. The clean lines and contemporary form of the duo-pitch canopy deliver a modern visual enhancement to the exterior of the school.
The completed canopy has been warmly received by students and staff. The school now benefits from a comfortable, attractive dining area that has improved circulation during busy periods and contributed to a more relaxed lunchtime environment. The space has quickly become a valued extension of the school’s facilities, supporting dining, socialising, and informal interaction.
The durability of the Alu-Link-Panel roof and the low maintenance requirements of the aluminium frame ensure long-term operational efficiency, offering significant whole-life value for the academy.
