Playground Shelters

At Twinfix, we design and install playground shelters that create safe, practical and engaging outdoor environments for children. Suitable for nurseries, primary and secondary schools, and community play areas, our shelters provide year-round protection from the weather while enhancing the quality of outdoor space. With over 35 years of experience, Twinfix is a trusted partner for canopy solutions across the education and leisure sectors.

Making Play Possible in All Weathers

Outdoor play is a vital part of child development, supporting physical activity, creativity and social skills. However, exposure to rain, strong sun or snow can restrict opportunities for safe outdoor activity. A playground shelter ensures that play, learning and recreation can continue whatever the weather, providing shade in summer and cover in winter.

For schools, this helps extend the use of playgrounds beyond the summer months, easing pressure on indoor spaces and creating more opportunities for active, healthy play. In community or nursery settings, shelters give parents and carers confidence that children can enjoy the outdoors in a safe and protected environment.

Durable, Low-Maintenance Design

Our playground shelters are constructed from aluminium, chosen for its strength, resistance to corrosion and low maintenance requirements. Aluminium is also infinitely recyclable, offering a sustainable and long-lasting solution. Frames can be powder-coated in any standard RAL colour, providing design flexibility to either blend with existing school buildings or add a vibrant feature to playgrounds. A timber-effect finish is also available, delivering the warmth of wood with none of the ongoing upkeep.

A choice of roofing and panel systems ensures that each shelter meets the needs of its environment. Polycarbonate options provide bright, durable coverage, while solid aluminium roof panels offer shade and privacy where required.

Safety and Compliance

Safety is at the forefront of every Twinfix installation. Structural components are UKCA marked in line with BS EN 1090-1, ensuring compliance and integrity. Where polycarbonate is specified, our Multi-Link-Panel Non-Fragile roofing system, tested to ACR[M]001:2019, delivers proven performance for safe installation and long-term use. These standards give schools and local authorities confidence in the safety and durability of their investment.

Tailored to Each Playground

Every playground has its own layout and requirements, and our shelters are designed to fit seamlessly into their surroundings. From compact shelters that provide cover for small play areas to larger structures that span multiple zones, each canopy is configured to maximise space and usability. Optional extras such as post protectors, side panels, integrated seating or vinyl wraps can also be incorporated to increase safety, comfort and visual appeal.
