Why Twinfix Is the Trusted Choice for Non-Fragile Roof Glazing Across the UK Rail Network

From heritage station refurbishments to modern transport hubs, the UK rail network demands roofing solutions that deliver on safety, longevity, and visual appeal. At Twinfix, we’ve built a strong track record of providing roof glazing and canopy systems that meet the complex requirements of rail environments – all while maintaining the highest standards of quality, compliance and aesthetics.Whether it’s a new-build platform canopy or the sensitive restoration of a listed structure, our team works closely with station operators, architects and contractors to deliver reliable, non-fragile solutions that stand the test of time.

Engineered for the Rail Sector

The demands of the rail industry are unique. Environments must be safe for passengers and staff, installations must minimise disruption to station operations, and materials must be low maintenance while complementing often historically significant architecture.

That’s why so many rail partners choose Twinfix. Our in-house design and manufacturing capabilities allow us to tailor solutions to each site, ensuring every installation is fit for purpose, non-fragile to ACR[M]001:2019, and compliant with Network Rail’s stringent standards.

Our Multi-Link-Panel NF system is a key component in this offering – a modular, quick-fit polycarbonate glazing panel that offers exceptional durability and a clean, modern finish. Lightweight yet robust, it enables safer access and simpler installation, helping to reduce possession time and associated costs.

Creating Space to Thrive at Whipman Woods Primary

When Morgan Sindall were building the brand-new Whipman Woods Primary School in Worksop, they needed more than just canopies — they needed safe, durable and great-looking structures that would support outdoor learning from day one.

That’s where Twinfix came in.

A Bespoke Canopy Package with the Future in Mind

We were brought in to design, manufacture and install two canopies that would blend seamlessly with the school’s contemporary setting and meet the practical needs of staff and pupils alike.

  • Canopy 1: A free-standing mono-pitch aluminium canopy with squared posts, providing a 17.1m x 4.5m sheltered space ideal for outdoor classrooms, queueing, or social zones.

  • Canopy 2: A reverse mono-pitch cantilevered canopy with circular posts, offering an open, unobstructed area that keeps foot traffic moving and sightlines clear.

Both structures were glazed using our ML16NF Multi-Link-Panel system, featuring 16mm polycarbonate for durability, natural light and long-term weather resistance.

To boost on-site safety, we also supplied post protectors, colour-matched and built to withstand the everyday knocks of a busy school environment.

What Made the Difference

Non-fragile roofing, safety tested to ACR(M)001:2019
UV-protected polycarbonate, backed by a 10-year warranty
Minimal maintenance, maximum longevity
Custom-engineered frames, UKCA-marked and powder-coated for a smart, durable finish

Built for the Way Schools Really Work

At Twinfix, we know schools don’t stand still. That’s why our canopies are designed not just to look the part on handover day — but to keep performing for years to come. Whether it’s pouring with rain or blazing sunshine, Whipman Woods Primary now has two reliable outdoor zones that support teaching, learning and play, whatever the weather.
