Creating a Welcoming First Impression: New Entrance Canopy Installed at North Cambridgeshire Hospital

At Twinfix, we understand that first impressions count — especially in healthcare environments where comfort, clarity, and care matter from the moment someone arrives. That’s why we were delighted to partner with North Cambridgeshire Hospital in Wisbech on a project to enhance the entrance to its Children’s Services Department.

The brief was clear: design a canopy that not only provides reliable weather protection but also enhances the building’s appearance and supports a positive visitor experience. The result is a smart, free-standing mono-pitch structure that combines durability with contemporary design.

Built to UKCA standards, the new canopy features a robust aluminium frame and non-fragile polycarbonate roof system, ensuring lasting performance while allowing natural light to filter through. Its sleek powder-coated finish in RAL 7016 offers a modern aesthetic that complements the hospital’s architecture.

A standout feature of the design is the central timber soffit, crafted from warm cedar cladding. This natural material introduces texture and warmth, softening the structure’s overall appearance and creating a more inviting feel — ideal for a family-focused facility.

From concept through to completion, this project reflects our commitment to delivering canopies that balance form and function. Every detail was considered, from the clean-lined structural design to integrated guttering for effective rainwater management.

We’re proud to have contributed to a space that feels more welcoming, accessible, and aligned with the high standard of care provided within. It’s a small addition that makes a meaningful difference — and that’s exactly what we strive for at Twinfix.
