Aldi’s new store at Bolton Wood Retail Park in Bradford required a robust entrance canopy to support a safe and efficient customer experience during the reopening phase following the first Covid-19 lockdown. Twinfix was appointed to deliver the roof-glazing element of the structure, helping the retailer enhance weather protection and customer flow at the store entrance.
Twinfix supplied the roof-glazing system for the entrance canopy, supporting Aldi’s goal of creating a sheltered, compliant, and visually cohesive structure. The solution delivered a durable, non-fragile system designed to handle high footfall environments while supporting social-distancing measures and providing year-round weather protection.
Aldi’s store opening had been delayed due to national Covid-19 restrictions, adding further importance to operational readiness once works resumed. As part of the scheme, an entrance canopy had already been incorporated into the building design, requiring a roof-glazing partner with the technical expertise to deliver a reliable, cost-effective system. Twinfix supplied the Multi-Link-Panel system—an off-site manufactured, modular rooflight solution known for its speed of installation, design flexibility, and long-term performance.
Since opening, customers have benefited from a bright, high-quality 74m² canopy that provides protection from rain and UV exposure while supporting safe queuing and access into the store. The non-fragile roof-glazing system, tested to ACR[M]001:2014, ensures additional safety for maintenance personnel and contributes to the overall resilience of the store’s external environment.
