Home » Case Studies » Enhancing Solar Control and Façade Design at Brent Cottage, Hendon
Twinfix recently completed the installation of 25 perforated vertical Brise Soleil systems at Brent Cottage, a contemporary residential development located on Park Road in Hendon, North London. Working alongside main contractor Beale Halai Limited, the project involved the installation of architectural solar shading systems across the 7th and 8th floor windows of the apartment building.
The installation forms part of a wider residential development within the Brent Cross and West Hendon regeneration area, where modern housing schemes are placing increasing emphasis on energy efficiency, occupant comfort and visually cohesive façade design.
Brent Cottage is a modern residential development in Hendon comprising multiple apartments across several storeys. The project required a solar shading solution that would integrate cleanly with the building façade while performing effectively at height across exposed upper-floor elevations.
Twinfix worked closely with Beale Halai Limited throughout the installation process to ensure the Brise Soleil systems aligned accurately with the window openings and wider façade design. Careful coordination was essential due to the upper-floor installation requirements and the need to maintain a consistent appearance across both the 7th and 8th floors.
Manufactured from durable aluminium, the Twinfix Brise Soleil systems provide a long-lasting, low-maintenance solution suitable for residential applications. The lightweight nature of aluminium also enables efficient installation while maintaining structural performance and corrosion resistance over time.
Twinfix supplied and installed 25 perforated vertical Brise Soleil systems at Brent Cottage in Hendon, designed to provide effective solar shading while enhancing the building’s contemporary façade. Installed across the upper-level glazing, the vertical aluminium fins help reduce solar gain and glare entering the apartments, contributing to improved resident comfort and supporting more energy-efficient building performance.
The perforated design allows natural daylight to continue entering the apartments while also providing an element of visual screening and privacy. This balance between shading, light transmission and aesthetics makes Brise Soleil systems particularly well suited to modern residential developments where façade performance and occupant wellbeing are key considerations.
Architectural solar shading systems are becoming increasingly important across residential developments, particularly within urban regeneration projects where glazing, natural light and energy performance are key design considerations.
Vertical Brise Soleil systems offer a practical and visually refined solution for controlling sunlight without heavily obstructing outward views or daylight penetration. The perforated aluminium design installed at Brent Cottage enhances the modern appearance of the building while contributing to resident wellbeing and year-round comfort.
As developments across London continue to prioritise sustainability and façade performance, Brise Soleil systems are increasingly being specified as part of integrated building envelope strategies.
The project demonstrates how carefully designed Brise Soleil systems can successfully combine functionality, aesthetics and long-term durability within modern residential developments.
