Acre Hall Primary School in Urmston required a covered area directly adjacent to the classroom to enable outdoor learning and play in all weather conditions. This investment was designed to create a safe, practical environment that could be used year-round, supporting both teaching and recreational activities.
Twinfix was appointed to design, manufacture and install a free-standing mono-pitch canopy, along with supporting features to ensure durability, safety and ease of maintenance in a busy educational setting.
Working in partnership with Black Cat Building Consultancy and main contractor TJM, Twinfix delivered a tailored package that addressed both practical and aesthetic requirements.
The structure was finished in powder-coated aluminium (RAL 7016 anthracite grey) for a durable, contemporary appearance, with navy post protectors added to safeguard pupils in high-traffic areas. The canopy was glazed with Twinfix’s Multi-Link-Panel NF system using 16mm multi-wall polycarbonate, a solution that provides diffused daylight, UV protection, and compliance with non-fragile safety standards.
Installations of this kind often take place during term-time, and Twinfix’s team worked sensitively within the live school environment. All installers are DBS checked, ensuring compliance with safeguarding policies while minimising disruption to classroom activity.
