The refurbishment and extension of MasterChef’s new studio in Birmingham has transformed a Grade II listed warehouse in Digbeth into a cutting-edge production hub. The redevelopment includes sound stages, pre- and post-production areas, and outdoor filming spaces, creating 750 jobs and boosting the local economy.

As part of this high-profile scheme, Twinfix was appointed to design, manufacture and install bespoke brise soleil and a cantilever canopy, providing functional solar shading while enhancing the visual appeal of the historic building.

Twinfix's Role in Transforming a Historic Warehouse into a State-of-the-Art Studio

Working closely with the project team, Twinfix developed a bespoke shading solution that balanced performance, durability, and heritage sensitivity.

The scheme included ten brise soleils to regulate sunlight and reduce glare, and a cantilever canopy engineered to mirror their design. Together, these features provide effective solar control while complementing the industrial character of the Grade II listed warehouse.

All elements were fabricated in aluminium for strength and low maintenance, with a graphite black powder-coated finish (RAL 9011) to integrate seamlessly with the building’s exterior.
