Project Overview

Burger King continued its UK expansion with forty-eight new restaurants, commissioning Ideal Building Systems to deliver several of the new sites. Twinfix was engaged to design, manufacture, and install canopies and brise soleil systems for three locations — Kent, Clacton-on-Sea and Swindon — supporting the brand’s rollout programme with robust, visually cohesive external structures.

Twinfix’s Role in Enhancing the Customer Experience and Brand Presentation at Burger King

Our team provided a complete end-to-end service, creating tailored canopies and brise soleil systems that offered essential shelter, improved comfort for visitors and staff, and elevated the visual identity of each restaurant. The coordinated design approach ensured the structures complemented Burger King’s contemporary aesthetic while meeting all functional and budgetary requirements.

Project Overview

Drawing on more than three decades of technical expertise, Twinfix engineered a range of solutions across the three sites.

  • At Swindon, we delivered a full-perimeter brise soleil system wrapping all four sides of the building.

  • At Kent and Clacton-on-Sea, we manufactured and installed lean-to mono-pitch canopies with squared posts and 3 mm solid aluminium roof sheets, supported by matching brise soleil installations to the rear, sides, and front elevations.

Each canopy spanned 35 m² and incorporated a pressed aluminium roof designed at a reduced pitch to sit within the 150 mm frame depth. Concealed gutters and downpipes were integrated, and the structures were prepared for soffit installation by a follow-on contractor. Roofs were powder coated to RAL 3020 Traffic Red, while the square aluminium posts were finished in RAL 9006 White Aluminium.

The brise soleil systems were fabricated from our 150 × 75 rectangular hollow section, engineered to allow for later installation of lighting by another contractor.

Outcome

The completed installations delivered both functional weather protection and a strong architectural statement, enhancing the customer experience and reinforcing the brand image across all three restaurants. The successful delivery has informed the design approach for future Burger King sites, and Twinfix looks forward to continuing its collaboration with Ideal Building Systems.
