Polycarbonate is a high‑performance glazing material available in our 16 mm multiwall and 6 mm solid ranges, manufactured using the trusted EXOLON brand for consistent strength and clarity. Our 16 mm sheets come in a choice of tints to control light and achieve the desired look, while our 6 mm solid polycarbonate is offered in totally clear, glass‑like panels as well as obscure and Georgian‑wired‑style finishes. Whatever the option, all variants share polycarbonate’s core advantages: exceptional strength, long‑term durability, UV protection, and low maintenance. These qualities make it the ideal glazing choice for Twinfix canopies and rooflights—used successfully across many different sectors.
Multiwall polycarbonate is a high‑performance thermoplastic used to glaze our Twinfix canopy systems, supplied in the premium EXOLON brand to ensure exceptional quality and long‑term reliability. Available in clear and opal, our 16 mm multiwall sheets combine outstanding impact resistance, robustness, and low maintenance—qualities that make polycarbonate the material of choice for demanding environments such as schools, retail settings, and healthcare facilities. To illustrate its strength, the same material is commonly used for riot shields and car visors. Lightweight and versatile, it can be installed on mono‑pitch roofs or curved designs, creating durable, attractive, and highly resilient canopy structures.
Solid polycarbonate is a high‑performance thermoplastic glazing material used within our Multi‑Link‑Panel system, offering outstanding strength, clarity, and long‑term durability. Used across all sectors, it delivers the same robust, low‑maintenance benefits as multiwall polycarbonate, with impact resistance so high that similar material is used in riot shields and car visors. Its glass‑like finish gives canopies and rooflights a clean, architectural appearance, making it ideal for retail, transport, and wider building environments. Our Georgian‑wired polycarbonate, in particular, authentically replicates traditional Georgian‑wired glass, making it especially well‑suited to heritage‑sensitive rail projects.
Polycarbonate is an exceptionally durable roof‑glazing material, offering long service life thanks to its high impact resistance, UV protection, and resistance to weathering. Unlike traditional glazing materials, it does not crack, shatter, or degrade easily, ensuring reliable performance over decades with minimal maintenance. Its lightweight nature reduces structural load and can lower transport‑related emissions during installation. Polycarbonate also supports environmental goals through its long lifespan, full recyclability, and ability to improve natural daylighting, reducing the reliance on artificial lighting. These qualities make it a sustainable, long‑lasting solution for modern roofing applications across many sectors.
Polycarbonate offers excellent fire‑performance characteristics, including a low surface‑spread‑of‑flame rating that helps limit fire growth compared with many traditional plastics. When tested to EN 13501, polycarbonate typically achieves a B‑s1,d0 or B‑s2,d0 classification depending on product type and installation, demonstrating limited combustibility, very low smoke production, and no flaming droplets. These properties make it a reliable choice for compliant canopy and rooflight design. Twinfix can support specifiers, contractors, and building‑control officers by providing product data, test evidence, and practical guidance to help ensure glazing selections meet the relevant building‑regulations requirements for each project
The Twinfix Multi-Link-Panel combines polycarbonate glazing with aluminium glazing bars to create a robust and versatile roof glazing system. Designed for both new-build and refurbishment projects, it integrates seamlessly with a wide range of canopy and roof structures.
The system brings together the strength and durability of aluminium with the lightweight, impact-resistant properties of polycarbonate, delivering a high-performance glazing solution. It is well suited to applications such as schools, commercial buildings, transport environments and public spaces, where reliable weather protection, safety and consistent visual quality are essential.
